It is Finished
The testimony of Thomas Ridsdale
I WAS born and brought up in a non-Christian house but my search began in my late teens.
My search for God started on Sunday, 13th September 1987, I went along to the Marist Brothers in Islington, London.
The Marist Brothers are a Roman Catholic religious order which I wanted to join.
But before I could join as a religious brother I had to be baptised and confirmed.
That day was on the 31 January 1988 at St. Joseph’s Bunhill Row.
My search still didn’t end because my new found Catholic faith had so many unbiblical teachings.
I left the Roman Catholic church with my heart so empty and I was so disillusioned and I started to go to an Evangelical Church and there I found a Biblical based fellowship.
I started to realise my faith was tied to what Jesus did for me on the cross of Calvary, not what I can do for Him.
It says in 1 Peter chapter 3, verse 18; “Christ Himself.... died ONCE for sins, died for the guilty, to lead us to God.”
It is finished.
On January 3rd, 1992, God had mercy on me and I was born again. I praise the Lord Jesus for everything He has done for me and continues to do for me.
I’ve learnt that Christianity is not a religion, not a church, but a relationship with Jesus Christ that restores the shine, vitality and meaning to life.
“Therefore if any man or woman be in Christ he or she is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
This verse sums up what took place in my life when I became a Christian. May I recommend Jesus Christ to you. Don’t try anything, try Jesus.
